Location: 8/10
Benefits: 9/10
Dani's overall rating: 8.75/10

This time I was able to snap some pictures of the hostel so you can see a bit more of what I am talking about!

St. Christopher’s Village near Southwark Bridge is one of the many St. Christopher’s spread throughout Europe. About a five minutes’ walk from the London Bridge Station and with a bus station outside the door, it has excellent access to public transportation and is surrounded by a variety of different pubs, eateries, and markets. In fact, St. Christopher’s is attached to a bar that offers hostel residents deals on their food and drinks, which we took advantage of our first night in London.

It was evident right off the bat that this hostel was about ten times better than our first hostel, Paddy’s Palace Dublin (see my previous review for more information). It was not only essentially spotless, but the employees were much friendlier, and it was very well decorated.

Some fellow backpackers hanging out in our co-ed, 22-bed room. As you can see in the photo, the hostel provides lockers that slide out from underneath the bed to keep your belongings safe.

One of our more costly hostels in the trip, St. Christopher’s cost us £81 total for two nights, or about 34 USD per night per person. However, considering the quality of the hostel and all of the benefits it offered us, $34 per night was quite fair!

Speaking of benefits, we were able to swing a free walking tour with an excellent guide as well as a pub-crawl ticket for £10, giving us access to exclusive nightclubs and free shots in each club and bar.

Although the bar was close to public transportation and you could walk to many things in the surrounding area, it was a little too far to walk to all of the tourist spots and attractions in London. As a person who likes to travel as cheaply and efficiently as possible while staying close to the city center, this was what adversely affected my rating of the hostel the most.

In the end, I would recommend this hostel to everyone who would like to see London, except for those who have the tightest of budgets to stick to or who absolutely hate public transportation (in the case of the latter, you probably shouldn’t travel in Europe at all. Or read my blog). Jessica and I had a wonderful time here, and we hope you do too!!

Happy travels!
